PAST EVENTS
Summer Open Evening, June 2024 We marked the end of our summer season with an informal open evening, singing a selection of songs including an amazing arrangement of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. Over 20 visitors came along to listen or join in, and we enjoyed chatting over refreshments afterwards.
Spring Concert, April 2024 It was an amazing experience to sing Carl Orff's Carmina Burana in two sell-out performances at Hope Valley College. Hathersage Choir and the Hayfield Singers joined together to form a mass choir of nearly 100 people and we were accompanied by two grand pianos, a suite of percussionists, some very talented soloists and a children's choir from Hathersage Primary School. Check out a recording of the concert and a video clip below.
Carol singing at Moorland House, December 2023 Alongside Hathersage Brass Band, choir members joined staff and residents for a carol singing session.
Christmas Concert, December 2023 We had another sell-out concert at Hathersage Memorial Hall, and enjoyed the challenge of singing John Rutter's Magnificat and Lauridsen's O Magnum Mysterium, alongside lot of Christmas favourites.
Carols at Hollowford Centre, December 2023 We had fun singing carols to support the Hollowford Christmas Market in Castleton.
Summer concert, June 2023 We had a great time at our concert at Hathersage Parish Church. Performing to a packed church we sang Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo (Flanders and Horovitz) alongside a children's choir from St Michael's Primary School, as well as some other music fit for a summer's evening.
Christmas concert, December 2022 We challenged ourselves with excerpts from Handel's Messiah alongside some new and familiar carols. The choir really enjoyed learning some new winter-themed music, a highlight of which was Lauridsen's Sure on this Shining Night.
Summer concert, June 2022 Our first concert following the disruption of Covid saw us dressed in red, white and blue to mark the Jubliee. After a selection of part-songs and an Andrew Lloyd Webber medley, we sang pieces linked to the 1953 coronation including Handel's Zadok the Priest and Parry's I was Glad.
'Come and Sing' day - Faure's Requiem, February 2020 We had an enjoyable time at Hathersage Methodist Church learning Faure's Requiem in a single day, culminating in a late afternoon performance (mainly to ourselves!). As well as 38 members from the choir we welcomed 40 visitors, including two singers who had travelled from Lincolnshire for the day to join us.
Christmas concert, December 2019 The Memorial Hall was packed as we sang The First Noel cantata by Vaughan Williams plus a range of other Christmas music.
