Welcome to Hathersage Choir!
We are a friendly, mixed-ability choir made up of people from Hathersage, the Hope Valley and beyond. We sing a variety of music and enjoy responding to the challenge of performing new pieces as well as returning to old favourites. Our repertoire veers towards the classical, though in recent concerts we have also performed music by Gilbert and Sullivan, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sting and Queen. The Choir celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2025.

Summer Concert - Saturday 28 June, 7pm at Hope Valley College
Tickets £15, Under-16s £10
Come along to hear the choir perform Faure’s Requiem - a beautifully serene work about faith in eternal rest which is uplifting and hopeful, and Ave Maris Stella by Cecilia McDowell. This is a beautiful and moving piece starting and finishing in a mood of peace and certainty, the work is structured around a turbulent middle section anticipating the gathering storm. These longer pieces will be paired with two short pieces; Cantique De Jean Racine (Faure) and Love Divine (Howard Goodall).
Your ticket includes a free programme and a glass of wine or juice at the end of the concert.

Concerts
We usually work towards two main concerts a year, plus occasional special events. We sometimes host 'Come and Sing' days, which are an opportunity to come together for the challenge of learning a piece in a day, and invite others to join us. See the Events page for details of past and future performances. You can listen to some recent performances on our YouTube channel.

Join us!
We are a friendly, welcoming choir with new people joining every year. We rehearse on Monday evenings from 7.30 to 9.30pm from September to June, with a break for tea and coffee in the middle of the rehearsal. We have breaks for half term and school holidays, and a long break over the summer in July and August. We welcome new members at the start of each term, in September or January.  See the Join page for details.
